How to Perform CPR in Line with Nvq Level 3 Guidelines

When it comes to performing CPR in line with the guidelines of the Nvq Level 3 award in basic life support and management of anaphylaxis, it's crucial to follow the proper steps to ensure the best possible outcome. Here's a breakdown of how CPR should be performed:

Step Description
1 Check the scene for safety and ensure that the area is clear of any potential hazards before approaching the victim.
2 Assess the victim's responsiveness by tapping their shoulder and asking if they are okay. If there is no response, shout for help and call emergency services.
3 Check the victim's airway for any obstructions and tilt their head back to open the airway.
4 Check for breathing by looking, listening, and feeling for any signs of breathing. If the victim is not breathing, begin chest compressions.
5 Place the heel of one hand on the center of the victim's chest, interlock the fingers of your other hand, and position yourself directly over the victim's chest.
6 Perform chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute, allowing the chest to fully recoil between compressions.
7 After 30 compressions, give two rescue breaths by tilting the victim's head back, pinching their nose, and giving two breaths into their mouth.
8 Continue cycles of 30 compressions and two breaths until emergency services arrive or the victim shows signs of life.

By following these steps in line with the Nvq Level 3 guidelines, you can effectively perform CPR and potentially save a life. Remember, proper training and certification are essential for mastering these life-saving techniques.
